Architect Designed Homes Melbourne

The principles of Passive House are fairly simple but make a huge impact, and it’s to make sure the home is airtight, plenty of insulation, high-performing windows, and eliminates thermal bridging. Melbourne architect, Daniel Wolkenberg of Polystudio, ensured his home followed these principles, as well as having low-maintenance external materials, good orientation, and a drought-tolerant native/edible landscape.

His own home has also been designed to suit his family, and how it may adapt as the family grows. The ground floor is open and can accommodate visitors and evening homework, while upstairs are the more private space, a second living room, and dedicated study.

Just for clarification, we do not call this a Passive House, rather it’s a home that has been built to Passive House principles, as it has not been through the certification process.
